Chattanooga Weddings : Day 1 for Same Sex Marriage
Hey all My Perfectly Planned,
In recent news, well two days ago to be exact, June 26, 2015 the Supreme Court made the determination that marriage is part of the pursuit of happiness and determined same sex marriage to be the law of the land for all of the United States. I can remember my best friend texting me the news. I was sitting at my desk and she said ” WE WON” my reply was “What the HELL, we won what” I heard what she said, I knew what she meant but I could not believe it. I was elated. I knew what this moment meant for so many people. My heart was truly swelling with joy. I had promised myself that if Same sex marriage was passed that I would make myself and A D.I.Y. Affair Weddings and Events officiant services available to any couple that wanted to get married on Day One and that is what I did. I took off the remainder of the day and rushed down to the courthouse to marry whoever so desired to make a public commitment to their loved one, to be there forever more, through the good ,and bad . How could I not celebrate such a special occasion, this is what I do for a living day in and day out is celebrate the lives of two people becoming one and this wasn’t going to change on June 26, 2015 This day was about Sean + Ryan and Rhiannan + Phyllis the first two same sex couples in Chattanooga who applied for their marriage license and I had the distinct honor to be apart of their special day. It was truly a moment I will forever hold in a special place in my heart .

Behind the scene’s on Day One for Marriage Equality in Chattanooga
Alex and I excitedly waited for the first same sex couples to arrive to apply for their marriage license at the Chattanooga Courthouse. We couldn’t contain the excitement if we tried , look at those Colgate smiles 🙂 we were ready for a wedding ! When they finally arrived we were ready , of course the media was too, like a swarm of honey bees for the historic moment.
Jaime and Alex volunteered their time so that each couple were able to have some beautiful memories of their wedding day ! Even with two days passing my heart is still filled with joy! Congrats to all the couples who now have the right to love and protect their families.
