Most large weddings require a cocktail hour to provide time for coordinators and staff to prepare or “flip” your venue between your ceremony and the reception or to take family photos. During this time, given the name, drinks are frequently offered to entertain guests while their hosts are busy.

Though cocktail hour sounds like drinks and company are all that are of importance, it would be a mistake to not consider providing finger food at this time. A bite to eat while your guests wait for your reception and their meal will prolong their patience and help to keep the alcohol from going to anyone heads on an empty stomach. Your choice of appetizers clearly depends on your taste and budget, but little bites consisting of carbs and/or protein will tide your guests over and soak up some alcohol.
