Seating charts have come a long way from just a list of names on a large cardboard display. Although seating charts are not required for your wedding day by any means, for some couples they just make the most sense. If you’re concerned about guests having someone they would get along with around them, or maybe Aunt Sarah and Uncle Joe don’t need to be close to one another, a seating chart may help alleviate some day-of stress. However, creating the seating chart-especially for a large wedding- will take quite some time. Be sure you plan and allow enough time to create the seating chart if you do end up deeming it necessary. As for the look of the display- here are some creative and beautiful ways of displaying everyone’s seat!
Champagne/Drink Wall
Have your guest find their labeled glass of champagne that shows them where to sit and also prepares them for the upcoming toasts! This will kill two birds with one stone. If you do intend to use the beverage for a toast, be sure to let guests know so they don’t drink it on the way to their seats!
Old Window Pane Or Mirror
You have two options for these type of charts- vinyl or paper. If you want a more seamless option, you can have someone on Etsy- or a friend with a Cricut- cut out the names and arrangements of your seating chart which can then be transferred directly to the glass and ta-da! You have a beautiful, seamless seating chart. Be aware of the color you choose and consider painting or frosting the glass behind the vinyl so the names will be easy to read. If you want a fancier, more detailed option, hire a calligrapher to write out the guests on each table, and you can attach them to the surface with a wax seal. Either way you end up with a gorgeous, picture worthy seating chart!
Ornate Photo Frames
Have a beautiful old photo frame you love, or one that has been part of your family for many years? Utilize it by having your seating chart put in it and displayed on your big day! If you have multiple, consider having one for each table and display them by attaching them to a rustic pallet or arranging them on your entry table.
Wedding Themed Items
Are you and your partner card players? Incorporate playing cards for your seating chart by having everyone take a card with their name on it that corresponds to the seat. Having a beach wedding? Put guests’ names and seats on the inside of seashells or on fake coral! Travel lovers? Have a travel photo underneath the seating chart cards to slowly be revealed as guests collect their names.
