We urge our couples, and all couples, to discuss their does and don’ts for their wedding day. Communication is key in any relationship, so make sure to have conversations about your expectations about your wedding day early and often.

Couples often have different expectations of or connotations regarding their wedding day. Factors such as differences in culture, beliefs, and interests can affect what someone would expect at a wedding. These differences, if they go undiscussed, can lead to misunderstandings and disappointment. We suggest being intentional about having conversations regarding what expectations you have about your wedding day and discussing the similarities and differences with your fiancé.
Whether you are trying to incorporate aspects of your culture or making requests to accommodate your comfort, your partner should respect your thoughts and feelings in favor of or against these requests. A good tip when discussing these issues is to put yourself in your fiancé’s shoes and get some outside perspectives.
All in all, be respectful of your partner’s desires and have these conversations early and often.
Cheers,
