This month we are featuring BarCart! We have had the opportunity to work alongside BarCart’s staff many times, and they are always kind and professional. Bartending, especially at a wedding, can be stressful, but BarCart’s staff are skilled at keeping calm and being friendly with you and your guests.

Q. How long have you been bartending and working events?
A. I have been bartending for 16 years in total and doing wedding and events for over a decade.
Q. What got you interested in the wedding industry/bartending in general?
A. I was hired as bar manager for the Marco Island Yacht club in Marco Island, Florida and they did a lot of weddings and events. I soon came to fall in love with the event side of the industry by working there. I remember seeing the chef make an ice sculpture for one event and after that I was hooked. I love all the little details and amazing and unique things that can be done for a wedding or any event.
As far as bartending in general goes, I was hired as a bartender at an Italian restaurant when I was 27 with no experience. They asked me if I knew how to make a few key drinks in my interview, and I did- only because I had seen other people make them. So they hired me and the lead bartender at the time trained me very quickly. So I would say bartending found me, I didn’t find it.
Q. What are some of your favorite things about weddings and the part you play?
A. I love meeting new people, and seeing everyone having fun. I also love seeing all of the new decor trends and just wedding trends in general.
Q. Your ideal client or advice for couples such as a must-have wedding event/item, best songs to play, etc.
A. Ideal clients for us are those who ask & listen to our advice about what to serve and want to have us handle the alcohol, mixers, glassware, ice, garnishes etc so I know we are prepared, nothing is missing and won’t run out during the event. I have been doing this for a really long time so I know what is needed and what large groups prefer. That being said, it’s still your day, so be sure to have what you want at your bar as well.
Must have item for weddings or really any event is a bar menu sign. It makes our lives much easier when they have a sign for people to view with their choices.
