When thinking of your wedding, one of the most important decisions you’ll make will be your wedding colors. The colors you choose will play into everything from your cake, bridesmaid dresses, all the way to your wedding flowers. How could you possibly decide when there are so many options? Check out some of our advice below!
Consider your venue
Different venues will have different vibes. If you have a moody, darker venue then consider what colors give you that same feel. Jewel tones are popular in this type of environment as it elevates the classic vibe and sets the mood to be that of a formal, modern wedding. Don’t be afraid to have multiple colors and textures when it comes to your bridesmaid dresses or flowers. Recently, It has been incredibly popular to have the same color family, but not necessarily the same color for various decor or dresses for your bridesmaids. Consider doing jewel tones for your flowers but honing in on your favorite color of those to have your bridesmaids in.
If light and airy describes the venue better, then play off of that! Let’s say your venue has whitewashed walls and a magical view of the mountains. If that’s why you loved the venue, then you can use the colors you see to create your wedding colors. Shades of blue and green can be found in just about any wedding decor and look incredible in this environment. Play with the tones and try to use them to enhance the aesthetic of whatever venue you’re in! Be sure you keep in mind that obtaining specific colors of linens or any decor may need to occur as everyone’s “slate blue” is not the same.
Consider the time of year
Certain colors fit better in certain times of the year. Imagine our venue mentioned above with the views of the mountains. If your ceremony is against a backdrop of a beautiful and full green wooded area leading up the mountain in the middle of summer, you may not want to have the colors that remind you more of fall- rust, burnt orange or any darker greens- as these would fit better as the leaves are changing behind you. If you ever have a question of what colors are associated with what season, that is what we are here to help with!
Don’t forget Pinterest exists! There are plenty of inspirational options on there that can be sorted by season with one simple search. For a fall bohemian style wedding, think blush, frost and rust. For a winter wedding, think of the classic colors of black, gold and ivory with an accent of burgundy. You can get very creative and Pinterest is there to help!
Remember it’s all about what you and your partner love!
The wedding colors you decide on should be an expression of you and your partner’s personalities. If you aren’t a fan of the trend you’ve been seeing- that is okay! Maybe you can be the next trend setter with what you pick. If you are unsure of what colors you love, take some time to look through your closets. What color tops do you wear the most? Look at other rooms in your home and see what colors you have decorated with. At the end of the day, we are more than happy to bounce ideas back and forth so just shoot us a message to chat today!
