Delivering Flawless Execution for Priceless Lifetime Moments

Must Have Registry Items

July 15, 2022 by Kayley Russell

Everyone loves a good personal, heartfelt gift on your wedding day, or just a gift in general! There are many stores and websites you can register at for gifts and not all have to include physical items for purchase. Already have the mixer of your dreams? Great! Register for a honeymoon fund to have the experience of your dreams instead! Keep reading to see some of our favorite ideas and registries for different types of couples.

The ‘New Home’ Couple

If you and your future spouse are moving into your own home or apartment together for the first time after your big day, it is a smart idea to have a registry that includes the items you think you will use the most. This could include baking pans if you love to whip up a good weekly cake, a fancy pots and pan set if you love to cook or those luxury hotel towels you fell in love with but could never justify buying yourself. Don’t think you have to toss out all of your own personal items if you already have good quality items for your individual apartment or home. Think of your wedding registry as a practical place to get you and your spouse ready for daily life together in your shared home.

The Couple who Already Have all the ‘Things’

Already have two trash bags full of items that need to be taken to the thrift store donation pile and a million other items that could be added to go with them? Rather than asking for more items on your registry that you will likely take to Goodwill in a few months, ask for experiences! There are plenty of websites that actually let you register your honeymoon and allow your guests to make donations towards your shopping day, hotel cost or fun weekend excursion while you are on your honeymoon. Even better, most sites that say they send contributions to a specific activity really just allow you to transfer the funds directly to your account, so if you aren’t feeling that hike up the mountain, you can put the funds toward a relaxing massage instead!

The Couple who Want to Save as Much as Possible

If you’re wanting to save money and know you are having a bridal shower well before your big day, consider adding items that will be used at your wedding onto your registry. If your friends and family are going to spend the money regardless, it may as well go towards something useful! This can help you save money on the smaller items that can really add up in the long run and will assist in funding your honeymoon or the wedding of your dreams.

Another thing you may consider is adding a ‘wedding dress’ or ‘wedding suit’ fund to your registry! If all your aunts and cousins gift you even $50 each, imagine how much that would take off of the cost of your dream dress or suit. If you already have the amount allotted for the dress, this ‘money saved’ on your end could be extra money to go toward an upgrade to your spouses wedding band or even a honeymoon excursion you didn’t think you could initially afford.

At the end of the day, the important items for the wedding registry will vary based on the couple and their individual situation. Don’t feel forced to add things you don’t think are necessary and be aware that many stores and websites allow for an additional discount after your wedding date on all the items that were not purchased. This means you can have a fun shopping spree after, at an even better price! The main take away is this- have fun with your registry and enjoy the process, whether its online or in person. It truly is a wonderful feeling to know someone you love is thinking of you and wants to give you and your spouse a gift!

Cheers,
