Your wedding day can feel surreal. From the moment you wake up to the moment your head hits the pillow, emotions are running high and you may start to feel disconnected. A loving note or gift from your fiancé can help you focus on what your wedding day is really about.

Notes
Write your fiancé a note, whether on paper or on the bottom of their shoe, to read before you see one another on your wedding day. These notes should include why you love your fiancé, your “I’m in love with them” realization story, and your promise to them and your future together. If you’re trying to fit a lot into a little space, focus on what is important for them to know when they say “I do.”

Gifts
Get your fiancé something that can be on their person during the ceremony or go for something less traditional. Depending on the gift, for a bride, this can be their something old, new, (obviously not borrowed) or blue! A small gift commemorates your wedding day in a manner that their wedding rings or pre-planned items don’t quite achieve. Go the extra mile by getting them something thoughtful that isn’t absolutely necessary or expected on your wedding day. For a bride: jewelry, a surprise performance or video, a custom perfume, or a delectable breakfast. For a groom: a personalized handkerchief, engraved watch or cufflinks, or a personalized decanter. Though you know your fiancé better than most, make sure to check in with their bridal party and/or those planning and coordinating to double check tastes and timeline.

Don’t forget to work your notes and gifts into the wedding day timeline. No matter how well thought out what you are planning to give to your fiancé was if you haven’t made sure there is at least a 10-20 minute window designated for them to sit down and read or open them, it will likely be forgotten. Make sure everyone knows what’s going on so you can enjoy your wedding day without stressing about the little things.
