There is an astronomical amount of planning that goes into your wedding day but what about the day before the big day? Traditionally, the day before your wedding day is reserved for your rehearsal and a dinner which follows that involves spending some time with loved ones and your wedding party, running through the processional line up and of course, eating some great food!
In years past, the rehearsal dinner was hosted and paid for by the groom’s family but in today’s world, it’s more and more common for the couple to host and pay for it themselves. Keep reading to see a typical layout for your rehearsal dinner!

Run Through the Walk Down the Aisle
Right before the rehearsal dinner is the perfect time to let your wedding party practice their line up and walk down to their spots beside you and your fiance at the altar. Although you can practice this anywhere, if you can run through the processional order at your venue it will give everyone a better understanding of how the following day will go! If you have a wedding on a Friday or Sunday, your venue may not be available for the rehearsal, and this is okay! All you really need to do is make sure your party knows the lineup and they know who they are walking down with. If you have a coordination team, be sure to check with them and see if they will also work your rehearsal with you to keep everyone in line!
Give out Gifts
It is traditional to have gifts for your wedding party and other family members. What is not necessarily part of the tradition is when and how you give them out. This part is totally up to you- which makes it even more fun! We suggest taking the time to do this after your rehearsal. Your wedding day is filled with so many little details, moving parts and people that you may forget or not feel comfortable giving gifts out. If you give out the gifts the evening before your wedding, it can be a more personal and intimate experience for both you and your wedding party members. It also ticks off one more thing from your wedding to-do list!
Eat!
You’ve practiced, you’ve given gifts and now it’s time for the best part of the evening- eating with all your loved ones and friends! Take this moment in and enjoy the calm before your wedding day. Those around you love and care for you and your partner and that should always be celebrated and appreciated!
